Beautiful 200-sq-km Nameri National Park lies between the clear Jia Bhorelli River, flowing down from the mountains of Arunachal Pradesh, and the forested hills of Arunachal's Pakke Tiger Reserve. Nameri is very popular with birders (over 370 feathered species, including eight that are globally endangered, have been recorded here), but is an enjoyable visit for anyone, even if you don't see any breathtaking animals. You get to walk (rather than ride a jeep) through its forests, and you boat across the lovely Jia Bhorelli to reach it. If you want more of the river, 14km gentle rafting trips are easily arranged.
